Warners Group Publications
Bespoke Ecommerce CMS
Client Overview Warners Group Publishing is a large privately owned publishing company, with more than 30 magazine titles covering a broad range of both consumer and B2B markets.
Business Challenge In 2004, Warners had identified a decline in traditional publishing and saw a need to increase their presence within the online publishing world, to complement their offline print magazines and to create additional revenue streams for the business. Alongside this, they also wanted to improve workflow processes, particularly for the different editors within their range of publications.
Solution Metakinetic developed a complex bespoke solution to meet Warners requirements using robust and proven Microsoft technologies. The comprehensive solution incorporated a wide variety of features to meet the long list of requirements and included ecommerce functionality for magazine subscriptions, an advertising module to monetise the valuable real-estate on the Group's web properties and a classifieds system to enable readers to sell items online.
Prior to development we spent considerable time formulating an engagement strategy for the Group, enabling them to generate value from online customers and expand the reach of its publications. Blogs were a key part of this strategy, with both editor-created blogs and user generated blogs facilitated by the system, creating a more content-rich site and giving its publications' audiences a voice.
Throughout the process we worked closely with Warners' design team to ensure brand consistency and worked continually on the Group's overall digital strategy, looking closely at online communications and search marketing to facilitate the growth of its online websites.
Results The project was considered a great success, and six years on, Metakinetic continues to work closely with Warners as a strategic partnership with significant involvement in all aspects of the Group's online business

"Metakinetic has provided a bespoke CMS for Warners which has
enabled our magazine portfolio to take its on-line presence to a
new level. Our online projects are constantly growing and
developing in complexity, the team at MK continue to be hugely
supportive throughout this ongoing process and always willing to
offer guidance on areas which may be outside of our expertise.
Stuart and Rob have particularly helped make the process as pain
free as possible by providing information in a 'non techy' language
and advising on the best and easiest ways to overcome challenges as they arise."
